In a musical landscape that can seem a little vain at times, here comes Coldplay with a single that will stir emotions.
This band isn’t a newbie when it comes to creating emotionally dense singles. It’s pretty much become a game to see if you can get through 2005’s “Fix You” without crying your eyes out. It was a song that was so emotionally deep that it would be hard for anyone to replicate it.
Except, of course, for Coldplay.
12 years after that emotional roller coaster, they’re back with another single that will reawaken the emotions that many have kept inside since “Fix You.” Granted, “Miracles (Someone Special)” won’t bring you to nearly uncontrollable tears as “Fix You” can, but it’s just as inspiring and uplifting as their giant predecessor.
Gleamed from their Kaleidoscope EP, the opening of the song will set you up for what you’re about to come. What lies ahead is a song that makes it a point to tell the listener that you are special no matter your circumstances. It’s a message that really needs to be heard in today’s climate, and one that only Coldplay can deliver.
It’s pretty remarkable that one band can be as deep as Coldplay is. From the soft vocals of Chris Martin to the instrumentation, this is a single that will truly inspire you to keep pushing, to keep striving.
As mentioned earlier, “Miracles” does go a little easy on the heartstrings. In contrast, to “Fix You,” which was a clear assault on the heart, Coldplay does lighten the mood a little for this single. Bringing in Big Sean for a moving cameo made the proceedings even more emotionally bearable.
That doesn’t mean, however, that you won’t be diving for the Kleenex box if you listen to this track. If you listen to this track long enough, it will activate those waterworks, and that is the beauty of this single, and Coldplay in general.
This is a band that can really make some touching music, and they hit it out of the park again with the uplifting “Miracles.”
