In a bizzare incident, a student from Arunachal Pradesh has been allegedly beaten and forced to lick shoes of his house owner just for using excessive water, a top police official said here today. On March 6, Higio Guntey, a fourth-semester student of Christ University was using water when his house owner came. Looking at Guntey using immoderate amount of water, he became angry and beat him followed by forcing him to bent down and lick his shoes. “A student from Arunachal Pradesh was beaten and the police is investigating into the student’s claim that he was forced to lick his house owner’s shoes for using excessive water,” DCP (South East) Dr M B Boralingaiagh told PTI here. The house owner has been identified as Hemanth Kumar, he said, adding, a case has been regisitered on March 9, following a complaint from Guntey. Kumar has surrendered and the police are investigating the case, Boralingaiah said.
Earlier on March 1, in another odd incident, some students appearing in the Senior Secondary Examination being conducted by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) beat up their fellow student when the latter refused to let them cheat and tell them some answers during the examination, reported The Indian Express. The incident took place outside the Government Senior Secondary School in Phase 3B2 when the students came out of the examination center after the examination. When a group of students reached the old district court building, the assailants stopped the group and started beating one of them, identifed as Matthew. Getting the information, cops also reached the spot but Matthew who was beaten up, refused to lodge the complaint while the students who beat him up managed to escape from the spot.
